4 All-Star Road Trip Snacks
August is a great time to visit the Whistler Squamish area, especially through August 19-21 as the 2015 GROW conference will be a veritable hotbed of tips and techtalks. If you get hungry on the road to such a great event (or to a beach... or a hike. Getting sidetracked is where the best road trip stories come from) remember to pack yourself some delicious travel snacks to keep you feeling alert, healthy and energized.
1. Instead of plain old sugar filled pop as a thirst quencher, try adding Ener-C to your water. It gives you a terrific boost of Vitamin C, B vitamins and electrolytes to keep you going, and it's absolutely delicious. As an added bonus, Ener-C is made right here in the lower mainland!
2. If you like crunchy, lightly salted treats, try Go-Lite Popcorn, a simple clean snack that will keep you satisfied and away from trans fats and processed alternatives.
3. When it comes to bars, there are so many to choose from it can be hard to narrow it down. If you are off to Squamish for some rock climbing or intense hikes, consider grabbing a Clif Bar, it will give you the energy you need to keep going (and going. and going). For lighter days try Larabars, they are delicious and made with unsweetened fruits, nuts and spices. When they say clean and simple, they mean it!
4. Don't forget your protein! Protein is what provides you with longer lasting sustainable energy, and jerky is a great way to get it. Sue's Jerky is made by hand, and contains no nitrates or preservatives. For those who prefer a meatless option, check out Primal Strips! Made out of shiitake mushrooms, they provide 10g of protein, and are super portable with flavors to die for. So get out there and get your snack on!
